    Perhaps the most confusing aspects of Senior Living are the different types of Assisted Living Communities. Some may specialize in the care that they provide, some may have several levels of care. Price and location vary greatly between communities. Medicaid spend down and availability are other major factors. Our Placement professionals have vetted all the options in New Jersey and, after your evaluation, will be able to recommend, set up tours, accompany, select, coordinate move in with other professionals and maintain the relationship after the move. The different types of communities are:

    ​Each community type has unique advantages depending on individual care requirements, lifestyle preferences, and budget. Consulting with a senior living advisor can help identify the best fit.​

    Independent Living
    • Residents are mostly independent but may need reminders for ADLs. This level is designed to promote independence and provide a supportive environment
    Standard Assisted Living Communities
    • Provide personal care assistance (e.g., bathing, dressing, medication management).
    • Offer a mix of private apartments or shared rooms.
    • Include meal services, housekeeping, transportation, and social activities.
    • It is designed for individuals who need some help with daily tasks but maintain a degree of independence
    Memory Care Communities

    • Provide a secure environment with specially trained staff.
    • Focus on cognitive therapies, structured routines, and memory-enhancing activities.
    • Typically have higher staff-to-resident ratios.
    Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs)

    • Residents can transition to higher levels of care within the same community as needs change.
    • Provide a long-term solution for aging in place.
    Luxury Assisted Living
    • ​Feature upscale amenities like gourmet dining, spas, fitness centers, and concierge services.
    • Provide high-end accommodations and personalized care.
    • May offer additional services like private chauffeurs or specialized wellness programs.
    Faith-Based or Cultural Assisted Living
    • ​Focus on specific religious or cultural affiliations.
    • Offer services and activities aligned with residents’ spiritual or cultural values.
    • Create a sense of community among like-minded residents.
    Small Residential Assisted Living Home
    • ​Operate in a home-like setting, often in converted houses.
    • Provide a more intimate atmosphere with fewer residents.
    • Offer personalized care with a higher caregiver-to-resident ratio.
    All-Inclusive or “Aging in Place” Communities
    • ​Charge a flat monthly fee covering all services (care, meals, activities, etc.).
    • Eliminate concerns about additional fees for increasing care needs.
    Specialized Assisted Living
    • ​Cater to residents with specific needs, such as those with Parkinson’s, mobility issues, or chronic conditions.
